Athletes and sports people frequently suffer muscle injuries and strains. At Chris Scott Wellness, we understand that sports massage can cause more damage if done the wrong way, and hence we always strive to ensure that it is done as per the doctor’s recommendation.
What is Sports Massage?
Sports massage combines petrissage and effleurage techniques to allow free blood circulation between the injured muscles and the heart for faster muscle recovery. With a unique understanding of the biomechanics and kinesiology of various physical activities and sports, our staff will conduct a few range-of-motion tests before and after the massage to help determine quality and quantity of movement, and how these may have changed over the course of the session.
Restrictions can occur when there is physical trauma to the body, such as surgical procedures, motor vehicle accidents, inflammation, or repetitive motion. These strains can slowly tighten and spread, when that happens, flexibility and spontaneity of movement are lost, causing more trauma, pain, and movement restriction.
