Medical Massage

Massage is defined as ‘ the manipulation of connective tissue within the body’. Massage techniques are usually applied with the hands, fingers, elbows, knees, forearms, or some kind of device. The aim of massage is usually for the treatment of body stress or pain.

What is a Medical Massage?

Medical massage is an outcome-based medical treatment to address precise problems that the patient presents. The treatment process typically starts with an intensive assessment /evaluation by the medical massage therapist to identify specific outcomes as the goal for treatment. It can also be called clinical massage or treatment massage.

Patients are treated while lying on a massage table, sitting in a massage chair, or lying on a mat on the floor. At Chris Scott Wellness, our clinicians will typically perform treatment on a patient while he or she lies on a table in one of our private treatment rooms.
