Yesterday, we were honored to host a Veteran (who prefers to remain unnamed) in light of Veterans Day this year. The unnamed man, shown below, suffered a severe spinal cord injury during his 13 and 1/2 years of service to our country. The man suffers permanent loss of mobility and weakness on the right side of his body. Massage Therapy is one of the few treatment methods that helps relieve his chronic pain.
Jena Webber works at Chris Scott Wellness as a Massage Therapist and Medical Pilates instructor.
As a former Military spouse, Jena has a passion for her work with Veterans. She is an approved provider for Optum Health Veterans Program.
Thirty years ago when Lieutenant Will Webber asked Jena on their first date, she knew that it was only a matter of time before her life was going to be completely immersed into the military life. Five children and 30 years later, the Webbers are not strangers to the hardships that come with the military.
“When they called and asked me to serve as a therapist for veterans, I jumped at the chance. It is such a privilege to give back to the men and women in uniform and say ‘thank you’ in my own way. There was nothing harder or more life changing than the years we spent as a military family” says Jena.
All Veterans with Health Benefits through OptumServe and a referral from a VA physician are eligible for this program. For information on receiving a referral, please contact The Department of Veterans Affairs or call our office at (815) 977-3747.
